Chase Abner became Interim Director of the BCM in August of 2005. He is a native of Kentucky where he holds a B.A. in Radio/Television production at Morehead State University. Currently, he is finishing an M.A. in media management from SIU-C. His interests include his amazing wife, cooking, music and theology.
Leah Bening, a native of Carbondale and English teacher at BCM since 1995, has been International Coordinator for BCM since 2001. The position began as part time and has since been increased to full time. A Christian since age 11 and a lifelong member of University Baptist Church, Leah's interests include gardening, enjoying her dog and cat, and working with her international friends. "I was very lucky to have a fine Christian mother who loved internationals. As a child, we studied the work of the missionaries in the field. I was one of those strange little girls who thought places like Africa and China sounded exciting and not scary. God called me to do missions, but He called me to do them in Carbondale, not abroad. God made it clear to me that there are more opportunities to work with the international population in a setting such as this."
